Midthunder is part of the Fort Peck Assiniboine Tribe. Her family is from the Navajo Nation of Shiprock in New Mexico. After spending much of her life in Santa Fe (where she went to the Academy for Technology and the Classics and her mother worked at a casting company) She returned to her home. Her father, who is a native of New Mexico. Native American, and they are both members of the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe. Amber is birthed to an adoptive mother, and so Amber does not have any known mixed ancestry.
